Terence Govender joined SolarReserve with over 13 years of experience in the renewable energy sector focused on the research & development of solar, wave and wind energy as well as biomass projects. At SolarReserve, Terence leads the company’s development of over 3,000 MW of large-scale solar power projects throughout Africa. He was involved in the successful bids in round 1&2 of the REIPPP Programme in South Africa where SolarReserve were awarded preferred bidder status for their projects Lesedi, Letsatsi and Jasper. All three projects are now in construction.
Prior to joining SolarReserve, Terence was a Research Manager for the Renewable Energy Research and Development Department within the technology group of Eskom, the largest utility in Africa. Projects initiated under his management include the wave energy program and co-firing generation projects for coal stations in South Africa. He also served as Project Manager for Eskom’s 100 MW concentrated solar power project located in Upington, South Africa, and as a Deputy Director for the South Africa Department of Energy, where he was responsible for the Renewable Energy Market Transformation Project, solar water heating program and the two hybrid renewable projects managed by the department.
Terence has a Master of Engineering Sciences degree from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and is also a registered professional engineer with ECSA.
