Commissioner for Energy and Mines

Dr. Morlate Bangoura holds a PhD in Technical Sciences and Philosophy from the Belarusian National Technical University, an MBA in Business Management from HEC Montréal and Masters of Science degree from the Minsk National Technical University. He has ascended the profession ladder in the energy sector in the Republic of Guinea, his native country, from the Head of Department to the CEO of Électricité De Guinée (EDG). Dr Bangoura has been a member of the Technical Committee of the West African Power Pool (WAPP) and the Union of Producers, Transporters and Distributers of Electric Energy (UPDEA) in Africa, and has participated in many forums, conferences and round-tables on the subject of the energy sector in Guinea, Africa, Europe and Canada.  Dr Bangoura was a lecturer at the Minsk National Technical University and the Polytechnic Institute of Conakry.  The Doctor is the Commissioner of Energy and Mines in the Commission of ECOWAS. He is responsible for the definition, harmonisation and implementation of common policy in the realms of Energy and Mines. He also ensures the planning, coordination and following up of projects and programmes within this sector.
