Mr. John Anderson is the Director of the Office of Regulation and International Engagement in the Office of Oil & Natural Gas, Office of Fossil Energy, U.S. Department of Energy. He was appointed to the U.S. Government’s Senior Executive Service in 2014 in his current position, where he has responsibilities for leading and managing the natural gas import and export regulatory functions and oil and natural gas international engagement activities.  Prior to this role, beginning in 2009, Mr. Anderson was the Director of the Natural Gas Regulation Division leading the daily natural gas import and export regulatory activities.  In this role, Mr. Anderson developed the scope and direction of public interest reviews of LNG export applications, among other duties.
 
Before his September 2009 selection as Division Director, Mr. Anderson spent eight years supporting the Office of Fossil Energy as the Manager for technical and management services on several multi-million dollar government contracts for both the Office of Oil & Natural Gas and the Office of Clean Coal.
 
Mr. Anderson began his career as a refinery Process Engineer at Mobil Oil Company, and subsequently held a variety of operational, analytical, managerial and executive positions in the Marketing and Refining and Supply and Trading Divisions during his 22 year career at Mobil Oil Company.  Mr. Anderson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas.
