Engr Jonathan Okoronkwo is an energy engineer / renewable energy expert. He has diverse educational background possessing a BSc & MSc in Physics,
Industrial Safety and Environmental Engineering, B.Eng in Electrical / Electronic Engineering and was a Research Scholar at TERI University, New Delhi, India where he obtained a distinction in Renewable Energy Engineering and Management (MTech). He is a Principal Manager (Tariff & Rates) of Market, Competition and Rates Division and presently, Technical Assistant (TA) to the Acting Chairman/CEO of NERC. He has held several positions in the Renewable energy sector including being an O &M Engineer (Reliability Analysis modelling) at Suzlon Energy Limited and Wind Energy Analyst at WindForce Management Services Pvt., India.
Engr Jonathan worked on various renewable energy projects including 10MW Katsina Wind Farm Project which is the largest in West Africa; Demonstration Hybrid of Solar PV/Wind Hybrid Power Plant in Kainji, Niger State, Feasibility Studies and Production of Reliable Data for Renewable Energy (Wind in Coastal Areas) Project in Igbokoda Town, Ondo State, Feasibility Studies, Engineering Design and Preparation of Contract Documents for Small and Medium Hydropower Plants at Zobe Dam, Kastina State, Feasibility Studies, Engineering Design and Preparation of Contract Documents for Small and Medium Hydropower Plants at Adada Dam, Enugu State, Feasibility Studies, Engineering Design and Preparation of Contract Documents for Small and Medium Hydropower Plants at IVO Dam, Enugu State. He participated in one of the biggest ever conceived infrastructural development project in the power sector in the entire world. The project which is under the auspices of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) involves the construction of 10No Medium-sized Power Stations, 110 No Transmission Lines and Substations (330/132kV and 132/33kV), 1,230 Distribution Projects and 12 Gas Transmission and metering sub-stations all over Nigeria.
He has published several papers and presented at seminars, conferences both national and international.
