Powering Africa: Mozambique returned for a fourth year

EnergyNet returned to Mozambique this May to host the 4th Annual Powering Africa: Mozambique 2015 meeting.

Powering Africa: Mozambique brought together public and private sectors, project developers and global financiers to discuss the opportunities for investment into Mozambique's power sector. 

Targeted sessions focusing on gas, renewable energy and regional interconnectivity provided a platform for the development of the off-taker market in support of the country’s 'Vision 2025' development plan.

The meeting took a closer look at the different financing models available to support industry developments and strengthen public-private partnerships, and feature case studies by implementers and their partners.

A 4ª conferência anual Powering Africa: Mozambique irá fornecer ao governo de Moçambique uma plataforma que lhe permitirá estabelecer ligações com investidores internacionais, de modo a explorar oportunidades de investimento nos setores da energia e gás do país.

De acordo com a agência de notícias Macuhub, o setor da energia de Moçambique foi alvo de investimentos na ordem dos 3.2 mil milhões de dólares em 2014. O país apresenta um potencial de energias renováveis de 23.000 GW e espera-se que se torne no terceiro maior exportador de gás natural liquefeito (GNL), tendo em conta a escala das jazidas de gás descobertas recentemente.

O país tem, por isso, grandes ambições no que diz respeito ao desenvolvimento do seu setor do gás e energia, com expectativas de ver o seu crescimento económico aumentar em 13%. Estes planos requerem investimentos e apoios suficientes por parte da comunidade internacional.

A iniciativa Powering Africa: Mozambique irá explorar as inúmeras oportunidades de investimento no setor da energia nacional.
