What the participants said in 2008
• ’I have spent most of the time outside the sessions for meetings with other delegates. That was very useful as everybody comes to the conference and it is easy to get people together.’
• ’I thought the conference was good, especially the networking.’
• ‘I appreciated the AEF2008 very much because of the mixture of people and the easiness in interaction - keep going like that.’
• ‘AEF has indeed come a long way in bringing stakeholders together, defining and facilitating engagement on key issues, thereby setting the stage for concrete follow-up actions. Congratulations, and looking forward to participating again as a speaker next year. I am pleased to inform you that I had a very good side discussion with .... and another participant (based in Ivory Coast) with whom we have agreed on some concrete actions together!’
• ‘I enjoyed the Forum immensely and look forward to participating next year.’
• ‘Well done on a successful Africa Energy Forum. It was my first and I found it very worthwhile and enjoyable.’
The Venue
Beautiful Bordeaux
“With the lovely facades of its historic buildings lining the quays of the Garonne and a well-preserve city centre, Bordeaux is a jewel of classical European architecture, proud of its 2,000-year history. Largest French region for appellation contrôlée wines, Bordeaux has shipped its most prestigious products around the world for centuries, a simple taste is enough to see why. The wild beauty of Arcachon Bay, the immaculate sandy beaches along the Landes....and the majestic Pyrénées just two hours away, make Bordeaux a privileged city close to beautiful countryside, the ocean, and the mountains.” A UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Place to Meet
The Palais des Congrès de Bordeaux, superbly renovated in 2003, is situated on a lake, within easy reach of the city centre and the airport. It is adjacent to a four-star hotel and a casino, with other hotels in walking distance. The ultimate in hotels, the Regent Grand Hotel, is in the city centre. The Palais des Congrès has purpose built auditoriums and excellent exhibition spaces, that will provide all the facilities needed to create an efficient and effective conference and exhibition.
