MIGA's mission is to promote foreign direct investment (FDI) into developing countries. As a member of the World Bank Group, MIGA effectively mitigates noncommercial risks by providing mediation services and insuring investments against the risks of currency inconvertibility and transfer restrictions, expropriation, war and civil disturbance and breach of contract.
